WANT TO HAVE YOUR SAY?

Join the Board

Be a driving force behind the growth and vibrancy of our neighbourhood by joining the Ranchlands Board of Directors! The Board is made up of seven dedicated volunteers—four executive officers and three directors at large—each with unique responsibilities. This is your chance to contribute in a way that fits your skills, interests, and availability, while making a real difference in the community you love. Board members are elected each November at our AGM.

 Board of Director Roles

Community Association President: Leading the Way

As President, you’ll lead community development, oversee board activities, guide decision-making, and represent Ranchlands with government and city departments. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills. While time-intensive, the satisfaction of creating positive change is immeasurable, with an expected monthly commitment of 10–15 hours.

Vice President: Supporting the President

The Vice President backs up the President and chairs meetings in their absence. This role requires collaboration, a strong understanding of community needs, and the ability to support the board in leadership. Expected monthly commitment: 8–12 hours.

Secretary: Keeping Things Organized

The Secretary manages communications, takes meeting minutes, and ensures smooth information flow within the board and community. This role requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Expected monthly commitment: 6–10 hours.

Treasurer: Balancing the Books

The Treasurer oversees budgets, financial records, and reporting. If you enjoy numbers and financial management, this role allows you to make crucial decisions and maintain the financial health of community projects. You will work closely with our bookkeeper. Expected monthly commitment: 8–12 hours.

Directors at Large: Your Creative Input Counts

Directors at large bring unique perspectives and skills to the board. You’ll assist with event planning and coordination, contribute to grant applications, and be directly involved in community engagement. Expected monthly commitment: 5–10 hours.

Commitment and Expectations

All board members attend one board meeting per month (about 2 hours) and contribute to planning one event, assisting with another, and leading one grant application. On average, you can expect to dedicate 5–15 hours per month, depending on your role.
